Crazy Fenton – Interview

When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?

The big moment was hearing ‘Pretty Vacant’ for the first time.Although 13 at the time I’d spend most of the night awake waiting to hear it on Radio Caroline.I was told-off by Mum and Dad on numerous occasions because I’d turn my tiny radio up to volume and jump up and down on my bed when it came on in the wee small hours!

Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

First it was punk and then later it was sixties music.Back in the 80” there was an American based movement called The Paisley Underground.Bands like Rain Parade,Long Ryders,Miracle Legion became a huge influence.I realised you could have energy and melody at the same time!

How long have you been playing/writing?

On and off,for about 30 years…yes I’m an old git!

How often do you play live?

I haven’t played live for about 20 years.Currently I’m rehearsing a live set in  which I play rhythm guitar and sing to a backing track I recorded at Drill Hall Recording Studio.
