When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?
It was the punk scene! I remember hearing the Sex Pistols as a young kid and being blown away! I wanted to be in a band after that, as punk had a great DIY attitude and it made forming a band easy.
Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?
I was and still am a huge Beatles fan, they changed the world and set the template for songwriting. Their influence was immense both creatively and spiritually. I am currently reading a book about Swami Prabhupada the founder of the modern Krishna Consciousness movement and in the book it tells how George Harrison and John Lennon played a part in popularising them by their deep involvement with Prabhupada and the Hare Krishna movement. George even bought them The Manor which is their UK base which must be worth 20 million or more today. I went to the annual festival at the Manor last year, which had 70,000 devotees chanting, meditating and celebrating Krishna. It was amazing to see and to think that this was all down to George’s amazing donation, what a legacy!
How long have you been playing/writing?
I have been making music and writing songs since I was 17. For the last 20 years I have also been producing hypnosis and meditation recordings which have sold in the millions. So all in all quite a long time now! J
How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?
As a musician I am primarily studio based these days, but in my past I have played at some big venues like the Lyceum and Hammersmith Apollo to full houses. If the opportunity comes to tour and play live now I would be very open to that.
What has been your favourite moment in music?
In recent times I have been to some amazing gigs by the band James, they are awesome live.
A personal highlight was playing to a full house at the Hammersmith Apollo with the BBC1 cameras on us, which was pretty cool!
