Shackleton – Interview

1 – When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?

  • I first got into music when I was young mainly because my dad played guitar, so I wanted to as well.

2 – Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

  • As a kid, I grew up listening to a lot of Green Day. I can’t say that Green Day has much musical influence to me currently but the concept/story in American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown does influence me because I believe albums should tell stories and I think that’s part of the reason those albums were so successful.

3 – How long have you been playing/writing?

  • I’ve been writing my own music since I was around 12 years old.

4 – How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

  • I haven’t played live yet. There is little to no scene where I live and that puts a constraint on playing out.

5 – What has been your favourite moment in music?

  • My favorite moment in music has to be releasing this album. It has been such a long time in the making and I am very glad I was finally able to complete it.

6 – Where is the best place to find you online?

Jay Thackery – Interview!

1 – When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?

I got into music playing cover sets in pubs when I was 17, at college. A few local venues really supported me and that helped a lot.

2 – Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

The bands that inspired me are nothing really like the music I make now but they would be Greenday and My Chemical Romance. I learnt to play guitar playing along to my favourite albums and it made me want to make my own music.

3 – How long have you been playing/writing?

I pretty much started writing as soon as I learnt a few chords to put together on the guitar. I never really used to want to play covers too much, I was always just wanting to write my own stuff.

4 – How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

I used to play all the time doing covers but of late I tend to play only rumboy gigs which there are usually a few a month of. I’ve got a few gigs coming up soon, the main one being a charity festival in Freckleton on the 30th of August.

5 – What has been your favourite moment in music?

I guess it’s not really a favourite moment but it always feels awesome when the audience requests rumboy songs. I love that.

6 – Where is the best place to find you online?

I like to keep people updated via Facebook (facebook.com/officialrumboy) and I always share my new music first on soundcloud (soundcloud.com/rumboy)
