1 – When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?

I’ve loved music as long as I can remember. I remember singing a lot when I was very young, especially to musical films on TV. This love was consolidated really by a school project we did at Junior School on The Beatles and Sgt. Peppers. There was something about them and the album that I fell in love with. Around the same time one of my closest friends began to learn the guitar which inspired me to pick one up. The two of them together set me on the right path!

2 – Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

Growing up I listened to a very eclectic mix of music. There was the usual pop stuff that I had on cassette as a young boy (that I still have), lots of 80s pop that my mum loved, a lot of influence from the Beatles and Buddy Holly and generally rock ‘n’ roll. I was also very lucky to have an older sister who had great taste in music so that led me into a lot of 90s indie and alternative music long before my friends heard of these bands; people like Radiohead, Suede, Terrorvision, Therapy? and, most importantly, Manic Street Preachers. All of that has had a major bearing on me as an individual and the music I write. I think there are elements of all of that in my songs; I wouldn’t say I stick to one genre because I love so many different styles and genres.

3 – How long have you been playing/writing?

I started playing the guitar when I was 11 and I think I started writing songs almost immediately. It seemed like the natural thing to do.

4 – How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

I gig as often as I can. Despite the opportunities that social media and the internet give you, there is nothing like getting out there, meeting people and performing to them face to face. I have a lot of dates booked to support the release of the Black Holes EP coming out on 23 February which will be released soon and will be available here:

5 – What has been your favourite moment in music?

For me it was the moment I discovered the Manics. Nothing has been so inspirational and life changing for me as that. I saw them on a late night show when I was in my mid-teens around the time of the Holy Bible. They were all dressed in their camo gear and were playing songs from the album. I was mesmerised.

When I asked my sister the next day if she’d heard of them, she produced 7 inches of both You Love Us and Motorcycle Emptiness. I played the latter first and I will never forget those 6 minutes of my life. It was such an intense emotional feeling and I said to myself they would be my favourite band forever and they always have been. That song still makes me cry.

6 – Where is the best place to find you online?
