1. When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?

Listening to Hawkwind’s live double album ” Space Ritual ” as a kid, and my sister played a lot of Bowie and Sparks albums. Later on I got into Krautrock and I still favour continental electronic music above all else – latterly,  Laibach’s We Are Time album shook me to the core and inspired me to write lyrics that dealt with social and  political issues of our age.  We obviously put a more British ” ironic ” spin on it eg Scratchcards and Junkies or End of Rock and Roll.

2. Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

See above but am also still influenced by the early live recordings of Duke Ellington – A big influence on my first released composition ” Cities ” by Code on 3rd Mind records and on DECO by Mortal

3. How long have you been playing/writing? 4. How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

As the zzips the last gigt was for MKR the Garden live radio session , but in previous incarnations we have played more gigs than we care ( or can ) remember both here and abroad including the Phoenix, Reading and Glastonbury festivals .

5. What has been your favourite moment in music?

Playing at the Sony BMG Conference Toronto is my favorite moment in music  to date.

1. When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?

I’ve always been into music but not as a musician or songwriter. More like an addicted listener and when life hit me very hard music became my natural shelter. I started to take guitar lessons and ended writing songs, more as a therapy I guess than because I wanted to become a songwriter. During this evolving process I found myself listening to P.J. Harvey and John Frusciante mainly. And I think that I took a lot from their music.

2. Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

Like teenagers do, I had few specific music moments in my formative years. I remember falling in love with the Doors and keep on listening to them almost all day long for ages. Then it was the time for the “flower power” era: Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Kaleidoscope and so on.  After that plunge into the 60’s, I finally met my true love: Pink Floyd. I hope that it is easy to hear some of their sound landscapes in our music. But it is on stage that Pink Floyd influence is more clear; we dive into their approach to music improvisation and transform some of our songs into journeys that are supposed to take by hand our listeners into very attractive yet intimate worlds of sounds. I really love the live side of our music.

3. How long have you been playing/writing?

As I said, my journey into music goes back to my early years but I started writing songs and lyrics only a couple of years ago.

4. How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

We’ve been doing quite a lot of gigs back in Italy, mainly in social centers or private venues. You see, our songs are sung in english and Italy is not very receptive to unknown bands that sing their songs in english. Bars and pubs tend to hire cover bands and we felt that we didn’t have room in that scenario. So we moved to Bristol and we hope to be able to find in this fantastic town our own place in the local music scene. News about upcoming gigs may be found at our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Noel.Music.official) or at our website (www.noelandthepandas.com).

5. What has been your favourite moment in music?

This moment hasn’t yet arrived for me. And it will be when Noel and the Pandas are recognised as an english band playing good music.

6. Where is the best place to find you online?

We have a web site (http://www.noelandthepandas.com) and are present on all popular social media like Facebook, Youtube, Soundcloud… just type Noel and the Pandas on Google and you’ll find everything about us.
