Jessie Lowes

1 – When did you first get into music? What or who Inspired you?

Jess: When I was 5 I got a keyboard for Christmas and I would play along to my Mum and Dads Vinyl collection. That is my first memory of getting into music.
Inspiration wise my Mum would listen to all the 60s greats some to mention of her favorites are Joan Baez, Tina Turner, Melissa Etheride, KD Lang and she also loved all things musical her all time favorite was The Sound Of Music. My Dad on the other hand was into his heavy metal and rock. Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Floyd. I would listen to all the music and sing to everything which is why I love all music from Rock to pop.

2 – Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

Jess: I listened to Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Maddona, Take That, Guns and Roses, Metallica, Nirvana, Garbage and Roxette. I think it has helped me develop as a singer / Songwriter as I like to incorporate different styles into my music. I even listened to Operatic music a lot of the time as it depended on my mood so I learned what styles work best together.

3 – How long have you been playing/writing?

Jess:I have been playing now for twenty years in different bands and solo. I started writing properly when I was 12. I would write poems which became my lyrics and would structure music around them.

4 – How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

1 – When did you first get into music? What or who inspired you?
We all were into music from a young age, specially Matt and Adam because of their parents, they always had music playing around at home. And having a musical background, their mother was in the theatre theme in the west end in London in her younger days and dad having had a band when he was roughly our age,so they always wanted us to try something out in the musical world.

To be certain there is a lot of band that inspired us from all types of genres, but mainly  bands and artists like tom petty, oasis, kings of leon, arctic monkeys, the kooks, black keys etc…

2 – Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?
As we said before we grew up listening to a variety bands and artists.Of course it has an influence on our material that we create we think that any artists needs a bit of influence to create their music in their own way.

3 – How long have you been playing/writing?

We have been playing as a band for the last three years we pretty much started picking up from then how to write and create our own material.

4 – How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

-Right now we are gigging less we are more concentrated on writing and getting songs recorded for our E.P “Empty Blue Skies´´and getting more known out of Spain.

We have a good gig coming up in a little festival here on the island here

5 – What has been your favourite moment in music?
Our favourite moment was a gig we had one night on the front of Palma de Mallorca bay in a club called Kaelum, the vibe the people were electric and just was a good taste of how much fun and satisfaction playing music can be.

1 – When did you first get into music? What or who inspired you?

S. The reason why I started to play the guitar is Prince. He was my greatest inspiration when I was a kid and I still consider him one of the greatest artists of our era, definitely the best in pop music. Then I eventually started to listen to heavier music, mostly US Rock and Nu Metal. I particularly loved the quality of those productions, and that’s when I started to be passionate about music production and sound engineering as well. I now enjoy all genres of music, as long as the melody and the rhythm is
there.

Law. Music has always been part of my life since childhood. My dad used to listen to a lot of Deep Purple
and Led Zeppelin, but to be honest I cannot really remember the exact moment when I got into music. I can
tell you I was always fascinated with drums, they are a tool to make a lot of noise… as a kid that’s priceless!

C. Can’t remember who exactly inspired me but I do recall being able to sing “Don’t cry for me Argentina” word forword before I could speak if that counts!

Lux: My dad got me into the music, he is a jazz drummer and my house was cluttered with all sorts of
musical instruments! I just really like to play music with any instrument. It transports me
into another dimension.

2 – Who did you grow up listening to, and does that impact on what you create now?

S. Once again, I grew up listening to Prince, who I believe is still a great inspiration, especially for his eclecticism. The wave of US rock and Nu Metal inspired my guitar playing and my guitar sound too, even tho I always try to keep a personal approach to it.

Law. If I had to pick somebody from whom I have drawn inspiration, that would probably be Tommy Lee of Motley Crue. When I saw him play the drums I was blown away!

C. I grew up listening to a lot of Queen, A lot of musical theatre and good old Kerrang TV! Evanescence and Bullet for My Valentine also influenced me as an artist but the musical theatre side definitely had a major impact on my voice.

Lux: I have way too many influences; from Kiss to Led Zeppelin and again Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers. I guess we are just scratching the surface here!

3 – How long have you been playing/writing?

S. I’ve been playing the guitar for 15 years and started to write music when I was 17.

Law. I have been harassing my neighbourhood for 14 years now.

C. I’ve been vocal training since I was four.

Lux: I started playing clarinet in a classic orchestra when I was 11. By the age of 16 I swapped it
with my first guitar, then drums and eventually settled on Bass.

4 – How often do you play live (include details and links for any upcoming gigs)?

S. Ever since Lux (the bassist) joined the band we started to be more active. We play live on a regular basis and you can stay updated checking out our official website: http://www.soulost.com/tour-dates.

5 – What has been your favourite moment in music?

S. The release of ‘TWIF, P1’ is definitely one of my favourite moment in music. We worked very hard on that and we are very proud of the unique sound we achieved.

Law. When one of our fans thanked us for making music… that’s just fantastic, I can’t even describe with words what I felt!

C. Every moment I’m able to perform is my favourite moment.

Lux: When i released my first album. That was with my first ever band and I was so proud to have written an album with 13 punk rock tracks.
